Nestlé Waters in the Pacific Northwest

Cascade Locks, Oregon
Located in the Columbia River Gorge, Cascade Locks offers an abundance of fresh spring water flowing from the Cascade mountains, and appears to provide high quality and great tasting water.

Locating closer to our customers
We currently ship most of our bottled spring water to the Pacific Northwest from California and British Columbia. It makes good environmental and economic sense to locate closer to our customers, which is our main motivation for pursuing a new site for a spring water bottling facility. Cascade Locks offers good transportation access to the Pacific Northwest from Interstate 84.

Creating local jobs
Our water bottling facility may provide up to approximately 53 permanent, well-paying jobs with good benefits. Other economic benefits would be determined when a location is selected, including local property, utility, or other taxes.

The potential site
Nestlé Waters is evaluating the industrial area near the river as a potential location for the water bottling facility. A two-production-line manufacturing facility of the scope and size that is being evaluated would be constructed at an initial investment of as much as about $50 million. The bottling plant would be up to approximately 250,000 square feet, with water moved to the plant by a Nestlé-built pipeline. Nestlé Waters’ plants are built to LEED standards (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) safeguarding the health of employees, neighbors and the environment.

Once a specific spring water source is selected, it would be developed and connected to the building via pipeline. NWNA estimates we need about 300 gallons per minute for a two-line production facility.

Project approval and environmental review
There are a variety of permits and approvals required in order to develop the spring water and bottling facility sites in Cascade Locks. Nestlé Waters is working with local, state and federal officials to determine the specific requirements such a project would have.

Community outreach and input
Nestlé Waters is committed to communicating openly with the people of Cascade Locks about our project and to answering questions you may have. We have made presentations to the Cascade Locks City Council, held public meetings in Cascade Locks, and have met with several local people about the project.

We have a storefront office in town, located by the real estate company and near the Post Office, where we will post our office hours. Please come visit us when you have the opportunity.
